In spite of hot and humid conditions a large number of courageous youth from all walks of life paraded through the streets in Colombo on Monday, 9 December – UN Anti-Corruption day – showing their enthusiasm and determination to curb corruption in Sri Lanka.
They walked, danced and voiced slogans to demonstrate their commitment towards values of integrity.
The Youth Walk was organised by Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) along with Sri Lanka Youth and Sri Lanka Federation of Youth and several other organaisations.
The walk started from near Lipton Circus near Colombo Town Hall and paraded for over an hour through the streets before ending up at the open air theater at Viharamahadevi Park.
The youth who took part in the walk voiced their willingness to come to a single platform and increase their network support to become the change agents to tackle corruption.
After the walk they were received by TISL Chairman J.C. Weliamuna, director Anushika Amerasinge and exeutive director S. Ranugge and staff members of the TISL. Secretary to the Youth Affairs Ministry, K.A.Thilakarathna also joined them.
