Nearly fifty youths from the five Districts of the Northern Province participated in a three-day training workshop on ‘Youth Training for Trainers: Promoting Good Governance’ organized by the Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL), at the Thalsevana Holiday Resort, Jaffna.

The training has been held after the disruption of several journalists’ workshops on Investigative reporting by TISL based on the enforcement of the recommendations made by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC)’ took place in Polonnaruwa last month and in Colombo and Negombo last week.

The youth participants discussed the issues such as the cause of corruption and its social impact in Sri Lanka as well as the current political situation and the implementation of the LLRC recommendations in the Northern Province. The participants were introduced to the methods of preventing corruption and the mobilization of skills to conduct activities of promoting good governance and convey the message of the significance of integrity in civil society.

The training team included Additional Divisional Secretary of Vavuniya Divisional Secretariat Sarathanjali Karnan, Counseling Officer of Ministry of Social Services Mohamed Azhar, Vavuniya Campus lecturer of the University of Jaffna Dr. Ramasamy Pushpakaanthan and TISL Regional Coordinator Ravindra De Silva.
