Over 50 participants including police officers, school teachers, grama niladharis and CBO members attended a one-day workshop at Tangalle organized by TISL on bribery and corruption. The workshop aimed at skills and knowledge-building was held in auditorium of the Fisheries University in Tangalle on September 10th.
The workshop initiated by TISL member Susantha Baddage discussed anti- corruption mechanisms and good governance initiatives.
TISL Deputy Executive Director Rukshana Nanayakkara pointed out the need for all stakeholders in society to work as a one unit to eradicate corruption. Corruption which is a dangerous phenomenon has to be handled without delay and can be minimized through innovative ideas and initiatives, he said.
Participants sowed a keen interest in learning about anti-corruption initiatives and requested TISL to hold more workshops in the area.
TISL’s Sandun Gunawardana also took part in the workshop as a resource person.
