TISL Builds Capacity on Internal Investigations

A one-day workshop on Conducting Internal Investigations to Ensure Good Governance, organized by Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Administration was held on 29th May 2015 at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Public Administration, Local Government and Democratic Governance. The Internal Investigative officers of the Ministry took part in the workshop.

The workshop was conducted on a request made by the secretary of the ministry J.Dadallage. Additional secretary of the ministry, Mala Basnayake and Thilak Hettiarachchi, senior assistant secretary were among the participants at the workshop.

At the workshop manager of ALAC, Transparency International Sri Lanka, Jagath Liyanarachchi first briefed the participants on the concept of good governance which was followed by the former Deputy Auditor General, M.D. Harold’s lecture on auditing in pursuance of accountability. Piyathissa Ranasinghe, the former Secretary to the Ministry of Postal and telecommunication and Upcountry Development briefed the participants on internal investigation policy and the accountability of state officials. The final lecture for the day was delivered by A.K. Chandrakantha attorney at Law and the former Deputy Director General of the Bribery Commission on new rules and regulations that strengthen state accountability.
