Three suspects in the F&G Real Estate case were granted bail yesterday by the Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya. The three suspects were earlier released on bail and later remanded on Monday till October 12.
Following a motion filed by the suspects’ counsel, the Magistrate released the suspects on Rs. one million personal bail.
On the last date of hearing, DSG Yasantha Kodagoda submitted to court that the suspects Mervin Jayasinghe, Mohan Perera and Sunil Jayatissa were reasonably believed to be involved in a business interest in two companies affiliated to a subsidiary of the Ceylinco group of companies and had represented the said two companies at a meeting with Central Bank officials in defiance of the undertaking on the repayment scheme which was proposed by court.
The Magistrate ordered the suspects to submit affidavits pledging that they would not get involved in any meeting hereafter with the Central Bank or any other place with regard to F&G group of companies.
