Although it was said that the Temple Trees, the official residence of the Prime Minister, will not be utilized for political purposes, the Program for the Protection of Public Resources (PPPR) has witnessed the use of the premises to conduct various meetings and gatherings organized by the United National Front.
In an official complaint to the Commissioner of Elections Mahinda Deshapriya, the PPPR questioned the use of the Temple Trees to announce the formation of the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) on 12th July 2015, which can be interpreted as misuse of public resources by the Prime Minister for political party purposes. A large number of ministers representing the coalition including Karu Jayasuriya, Champika Ranawaka, Rajitha Senarathna and Kabir Hashim were also witnessed at this meeting.
The PPPR has also received credible information that a meeting to obtain the support of civil society organizations to the UNFGG will also be held at the Temple Trees in the days to come.
During the 2015 Presidential election campaign a number of complaints were submitted to the Commissioner of Elections regarding the use of the Temple Trees by then President Mahinda Rajapakse for propaganda purposes. TISL urges the Commissioner to take immediate action to prevent the reoccurrence of such misuse during the 2015 Parliamentary campaign.

පසුගිය 12 වෙනිදා පෙරවරුවේ එක්සත් ජාතික පෙරමුණට සම්බන්ධ වන අනෙකුත් දේශපාලන පක්ෂ සමග සම්මුතියකට එකතු වීමේ උත්සවය අරලියගහ මන්දිරයේදී පැවැත්වෙන ආකාරය නිරීක්ෂණය කළ හැකි විය. අගමැතිවරයාට අමතරව රජය නියෝජනය කරනු ලබන කරු ජයසුරිය, චම්පික රණවක, රාජිත සේනාරත්න, කබීර් හෂීම් ඇතුළු ඇමතිවරුන් හා මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් විශාල පිරිසක් මෙම උත්සවයට සහභාගි වී සිටින ආකාරය ද නිරීක්ෂණය කරන ලදී.
ඉදිරියේදී එක්සත් ජාතික පෙරමුණට සහට ලබා දීමට නියමිත සිවිල් සංවිධාන සමග සම්මුතියකට එළඹීමේ උත්සවය ද අරලියගහ මන්දිරයේදී පැවැත්වෙන බවට වාර්තා ලැබී තිබේ.
පසුගිය ජනාධිපතිවරණයේදී එවකට පැවති රජය හා හිටපු ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා විවිධ දේශපාලන ප්‍රචාරණ කටයුතු වලට අරලියගහ මන්දිරය දැඩි ලෙස යොදා ගැනීම පිළිබදව අපි ඔබව දැනුවත් කළෙමු. ඒ ආකාරයටම මෙවර ද දේශපාලන කටයුතු වලට අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය නිල නිවාසය යොදා ගැනීම “පොදු දේපල අයථා පරිහරණය” යටතේ සිදුවන වරදකි. එබැවින් මෙය වැළැක්වීමට පියවර ගන්නා මෙන් අප ඔබගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමු.
