Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) sleuths visit ‘Lanka’ office today noon and recorded statements from the journalists, Chief Editor Chandana Sirimalwatta said.
Yesterday they summoned The Editor himself and recorded a statement following the arrest of three Lanka journalists for allegedly entering a private land in Deniyaya.
A police official said that the editor was asked to appear before the TID yesterday evening to record a statement. After few hours of questioning the editor had been released.
Three journalists who had visited Deniyaya to get information for a newspaper article were arrested recently and are being detained under emergency regulations. The three journalists have allegedly trespassed into a private land.
“After they interrogated me they asked me to send another batch of journalists in my editorial department for further questioning. But I refused and I requested them to visit our office to do the interrogations.”, Editor had said.
According to the Editor, Terrorist Investigation Division officials spent about three hours in the newspaper office to do the interrogations.
