Seminar on Journalist J.S. Tissanayagam and Prevention of Terrorism Act will be held on the 10th September at Center for society and Religion (CSR) NO 281 Deans Road Colombo at 4 pm.
J. S. Tissainayagam, 45, was convicted under Sri Lanka’s Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA)for writing two articles in the North Eastern Monthly magazine in 2006.
Mr Tissainayagam is thought to be the first journalist convicted under the PTA in Sri Lanka since it was passed 30 years ago. He will appeal against his conviction.
Attorneys –at –Law J.C.Weliamuna and Chandra Kumarage will make special presentations on the Verdict and PTA and How to defeat PTA at the seminar which was organize by the Platform for Freedom.
