Transparency International Sri Lanka held its inaugural Seminar on Business Integrity with Senior managers and CEOs, corporate lawyers, corporate auditors, senior representatives of regulatory bodies (government), in attendence. TISL parternered with Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the International Business Leaders Forum, and its Media Sponsors Sunday Times and LMD for this Seminar, with the overall goal of building the foundation for a merger of initiatives to translate into an action plan for private sector integrity.

The Seminar also provided a forum for companies to share information and local experiences, with a view of assessing the current status quo of Corporate Governance in Sri lanka and deriving an action plan towards enhancing Business Integrity. Three sessions of the day-seminar was dedicated toward this, of which the Panel Discussion proved to be the most provocative, with panelists providing an accurate overview of the harsh reality of the current state of affairs and the participants airing a range of emotional opinions. The need for a strategic collective action where as many organisations and companies as possible, Chambers of Commerce, sector associations of business, professional organisations, etc. take a stand to stamp out private section corruption, was unanimously voiced.
TISL strongly believes that this timely intervention met its intended objectives and the foundation has been laid. It is the intent of TISL to further this process of uplifting Business Integrity in SL by building coalitions and providing the intellectual resources in this regard.
