The North Western Provincial Council is spending Rs. 30 million from public money for a 13 day tour of four East Asian countries for its provincial councillors except for the JVP councillors.
The first batch will be on a visit to China from November 5 to 18 and the second batch to Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia from November 5 to 17.
An allocation of Rs.30 million has been made by the Chief Secretary to meet the expenses of the 51 members. A senior official of the Provincial Council said expenses of each member will be Rs. 570,000. He said the Council Meeting scheduled for Nov.16 was cancelled due to the tour.
The members said they will be on a study tour organized by the Provincial Council.In addition to the members four senior officials will join the tour.
