OPA joins Private Sector Integrity Coalition

The Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) has decided to join the Coalition which has been formed by Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) to enhance integrity in the private sector.

TISL made a formal request to the OPA following the recent Seminar to launch the Sri Lankan Edition of the Global Corruption Report on Corruption and the Private Sector, where it was suggested that this Coalition be broad-based to include organizations such as the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) and the OPA  to add more vigor to the campaign against private sector corruption.

The executive committee of the OPA has formally accepted the request made by TISL and named four members to liaise with the Coalition.

Currently, the Private Sector Integrity Coalition comprises of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, National Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Sri Lanka, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Chartered Financial Analysts, Post Graduate Institute of Management and TISL.

TISL is planning to further expand the Coalition to include other chambers, civil society organizations, academic and post-graduate institutes as well as international funding agencies. This coalition plans to collectively develop a strategy for enhancing Private Sector Integrity and conduct several programmes in this regard.
