NGO involved in foreign job scam

The Mt Lavinia Police had commenced investigations to apprehend an owner of an NGO and his wife for defrauding several persons for a sum of Rs 6 million promising foreign jobs.

The suspect had opened and NGO institution 3 years ago in a building facing the Mt Lavinia Police Station.

It is noted that the suspect had received the support of a powerful politico in Colombo and had also received assistance from a Presidential advisor. He had also distributed consumer goods to the displaced persons in the North some time ago.

He had fled the scene after having conspired with his wife and obtained the above monies from unsuspecting individuals.

Mt Lavinia, Panadura, Mirihana, Gampaha Police Stations have also received complaints against this suspect and his wife. The courts had issued orders barring the duo from leaving the island.
