Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) along with the Commission for Inquire in to Allegation of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) have organaised a National event to be held in Independence Square to mark the United Nations Anti – Corruption day which falls on December 09th. Several civil society organaisations and trade unions too expressed willingness to join a special walk and an awareness programme.
The walk and the awareness programme will be held under the patronage of the President Maithreepala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinge.
The walk will commence from the Viharamahadevi Park at 3pm and proceed to the Independence Square where a special awareness programme scheduled to begin at 4pm.
Dilrukshi Dias Bandaranayake the Director General of the CIABOC said an oath will be taken from all the politicians and state officials who also take part in the event to show their opposition to corruption. Senior Manager of TISL welcomed all those who are willing to take part in this national cause to eradicate corruption from the country.
