Minister wants recruitment process in Govt. sector revised

Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne has instructed to revise the system used in recruitment to the government sector, sources said.

Among the major changes are the removal of the compulsion that had been enforced for the State Management Assistants’ Service to pass in Tamil Language at the Proficiency Examination and increasing the number of attempts permitted for the Sri Lanka Administrative Service from two tries to four.

The Minister has agreed to discuss with the National Salaries Commission to remove the anomaly caused at the time of establishing State Management Assistants Service at the Grade one and for the Super Grade by not providing adequate number of increments.

This had been revealed at a meeting that was held recently with a group of representatives from the Consolidate Committee of the Trade Unions.

The Governor of the Western Province Alawi Maulana, Asst. Secretary ( Trade Unions) Hemasiri Jayalath,– Trade Union Actvists including W.G. Muthu Banda – President of the All Island State Management Assistant Officers, also participated at the discussion.
