SLFP member and Youth Affairs Minister, Dallas Alahapperuma yesterday said UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera owed the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) Rs.18, 796,967 for air time related election propaganda.
Last week UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella lashed out at the Government for abusing state resources and stated that the Government owed the SLRC Rs.42 million for air time. However Alahapperuma said that the SLFP owned the SLRC only a mere Rs.166,675 which he said was recently settled.
“The UNP criticizes the Government for the abuse of state resources. However it is they who have abused these resources the most,” he said.
At a press conference yesterday Alahapperuma showed a COPE document to the media which stated the amounts owed by each party. According to the document, the UPFA owed Rs.13,586,562 JHU owed 493,000 and others who owed the SLRC included the Prime Ministers office, the Media Ministry and other parties.
