Media personnel representing both electronic and print media in Trincomalee District participated at a two-day workshop on Investigative Journalism organized by TISL in association with The Fredrik Ebert Stiftung recently.
The workshop held at Lotus Park hotel in Trincomalee was the first of its kind where media personnel from Tricomalee District received training on Investigative journalism. The programme included presentations on Concepts & methodologies on Investigative Journalism, Ethics, Investigative Journalism and Anti-corruption, Sources, Challenges of investigative reporting and Right to Information. Making the presentations were TISL Deputy Executive Director Rukshana Nanayakkara, Research & Training Editor at Lake House C Dodawatta, and TISL’s Dilrukshi Handunetti, Shan Wijethunga and Ananda Jayasekera. The workshop was also intended to discuss challenges faced by the Provincial Journalists in investigating news stories. The relevant information will be incorporated into the Manual & Tool Kit on Investigative Journalism that is being prepared by TISL.
