A Human Resource Manager (HRM) who had allegedly created forged life insurance policies of his Chairman and a Director of the company and presented the policies to the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation to obtain Rs.3.2 million fraudulently, was further remanded till October 7 by the Fort Magistrate.
The complaint had been lodged by the two brothers, Akbar Haji Anwar the chairman and Haji Anwar Mohamed Muttar, the director of the company, to the Fraud Bureau. The suspect who was produced from remand has been identified as Eric Lewis Morris Samarasinghe. According to the complaint the suspect had allegedly cancelled the life insurance policies of the complainants by producing forged documents, and had then tried to transfer Rs.2.1 million from the policy into a private bank account.
Submitting a B report, Fraud Bureau said that the investigations were not completed and the first suspect Haji Anwer Ahamed is to be arrested and a statement is to be recorded from two other employees of the company. The Fraud Bureau further informed court that the suspected documents will be sent to the Government Analyst for examination. The next hearing was fixed for October 7.
