Director General of the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) Lakshman Hulugalle yesterday rejected allegations that the government carried out Monday’s attack targeting the Sirasa head office at Baybrook Place.
Addressing the media at the MCNS, he said that before the attack the Jathika Sangha Sammelanaya, had held a protest campaign, though there were no Buddhist monks at the scene of the incident as shown by Sirasa and MTV.
He said that both parties should share the responsibility as they had attacked each other. According to him, those who had targeted Sirasa were protesting against the proposed musical show by US artiste Akon.
Police Spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody said three persons were now in custody in connection with the attack and they would be produced in Court on April 01.
Asked whether the police had been aware of the planned protest, he replied in the negative and said that there were many instances when certain organisations held protests without informing the Police.
