The Government yesterday submitted a supplementary estimate of Rs. 347,500,000 to purchase 52 vehicles for several ministries and statutory boards.
The supplementary estimate was presented by Chief Government Whip, Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
In addition to the purchase of vehicles, the supplementary estimate seeks the approval of the House to obtain Rs 2,521,525,000 to meet the shortfall of provisions on the capitalisation of SriLankan airlines and restructuring Mihin Lanka Airline Ltd.
The supplementary estimate also seeks Rs. 200 million for purchasing cars for the Supreme Court and Appeal Court Judges and another Rs. 180 million to purchase vehicles for the Sri Lankan diplomatic missions in New York, the Netherlands and Singapore.
Other allocations are as follows:
Rs. 8 mn for a vehicle for Parliament, Rs. 6.4 mn for the Private Passenger Service Ministry, Rs. 08 million for the
Ports and Highways Ministry, Rs. 16.5 mn. for two vehicles for the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs, Rs. 08 million for the Ministry of Environment, Rs. 03 mn for a car and two other vehicles for the Ministry of Cooperative and Internal Trade, Rs. 11 mn for five cabs for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Rs 2.3 million to purchase a vehicle for the Ministry of National Heritage, Rs. 23 million for vehicles for the senior ministers, Rs. 5.2 million for the Water Supply and Drainage Ministry, Rs. 9.6 million for a vehicle for the Ministry of Traditional and Rural Industries, Rs. 5.7 mn for a vehicle for the Office of Chief Government Whip, Rs. 03 mn for a vehicle for the Ministry of Petroleum Industries and Rs. 07 mn for a vehicle for the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
