It is with deep sorrow that we inform all well-wishers of Transparency International Sri Lanka the passing of our former colleague and beloved friend, Sanjaya Senanayaka.
Sanjaya served as the Communications Head of TISL for a brief period in 2009 and was an important force in developing TISL ‘s communication strategies. Even after his resignation from TISL, Sanjaya continued to be a great asset to the organization always taking up assignments and supporting the cause of integrity wherever possible.
Sanjaya is the son of prominent human rights activist, late Sunila Abeysekera and political activist Kelly Senanayaka. He inherited a keen political sense from his parents that is so often absent in the youth of Sri Lanka today. He was also an expert video editor and one of the only individuals who were able to complete a video documentary from start to finish on his own. His command of language, strength amidst challenges, skilled camera work, acute analytical skills and champion personality made him one of the front runners in his profession.
Above all Sanjaya was a true son of Sri Lanka fighting for the betterment of the country. While others were silent in the face of wrong Sanjaya used all possible avenues available to him to voice his dissent and opinion. Sri Lanka truly lost a champion of integrity with his untimely and unfair demise. We in solidarity with Suba and his family at this time of grief.
Goodbye dear brother. May you find eternal rest.
