Golden Key Company continues to be in the news with the media following up on the happenings on a regular basis. 

Director owns 21 houses

One of the Golden Key Credit Card Company directors owns 21 houses among other assets according to the affidavit submitted to the Central Bank. Several directors and officials of the Company have started disclosing their assets following a Supreme Court order.

Huge salaries for directors

Eighteen Deputy Chairmen of the Ceylinco Group drew salaries ranging from Rs 3 million to Rs 10 million for serving in several subsidiaries of the Group, AG’s Department sources say. CEO of Golden Key Khavan Perera, now in remand, was functioning as Deputy Chairman of 35 subsidiaries.

Kotelawela further remanded

Ceylinco Group Chairman Lalith Kotelawela and other suspects were further remanded when the Golden Key case was taken up at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s court. The magistrate also directed the prison authorities to submit a report on their failure to transfer Chairman Kotelawela to prison from the National Hospital despite the Judicial Medical Office (JMO) reporting that he was fit enough to leave hospital

Central Bank tightens screws

The Central Bank has noticed that all past and present employees and agents of the Golden Key Credit Card Company to declare their assets and liabilities to the Monetary Board of Sri Lanka. The general public has also been told to furnish any information relating to these.

Details of deposits too

Golden Key depositors have been told by the Central Bank to submit details of monies invested in the company. the details could be submitted with supporting documents in a format shown in a Central Bank advertisement published in the newspapers.

Dud notes with tuition masters

Two leading tuition masters in Nugegoda have been nabbed by the Ratnapura police with counterfeit 1,000 rupee notes. The police recovered 75 dud notes of the same denomination from the possession of the two teachers along with computers, scanners, printers and other equipment used to produce dud notes from a house in Nugegoda.

Police in hot water

A high level inquiry has been launched by the Police into an incident on the Sinhala/Hindu New Year day where a 12-year-old boy was allegedly stripped naked and mercilessly assaulted by a group of drunken policemen attached to Seeduwa Police Station.

A Fraudster netted

A fraudster was arrested in Kahalla area by the Galkiriyagama police for allegedly defrauding a huge amount of money from job seekers promising to send them Italy. He had been acting as a close relative of the Prime Minister for a long time.
