Ex-Bribery Commissioners petition on Nov. 25

The Supreme Court listed to be taken on November 25 the rights petition filed by ex- Bribery Commissioners complaining of the alleged anomalies and non-payment of their arrears of the increased salary from January 1, 2006 upto the end of January 2009.The Bench comprised Justices Shirani A. Bandaranayake, K.S ripavan and S.I. Imam. The Court has on July 27 granted leave to proceed with the Petition for the alleged infringement of their fundamental rights to equality and equal protection of the law.

Petitioners Justice Ameer Ismail (President) as well as other two Commissioners, Justice Punyadasa and Indra de Silva (Retired IGP) cited Director General Mrs. Luckshmi Jayawickrema and Deputy Director (Finance) Ms E.D. Kumudu of the Bribery Commission as well as the President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, Director General (Budget) attached to the Finance Ministry Ms. Sudharma Karunaratne and the Attorney General as Respondents.
