The Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Rumy Marzook was ordered by the Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade, Johnston Fernando, to take immediate steps to see that traders display prices of consumer goods according to the Consumer Act or face prosecution for non compliance.
A Ministry spokesman told The Island yesterday that the Minister, who made a surprise visit to the Meegoda Economic Centre and certain other establishments in Homagama and the outskirts of Colombo on Tuesday (June 8), was annoyed that the traders had not displayed the price lists.
