A special discussion to review different types of development and community oriented programmes of the INGOs and NGOs and also to resolve any issues pertaining to their roles was held recently at the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi.
The army headquarters said the Security Forces Commander, Kilinochchi, Major General Nandana Udawatte presided over the meeting attended by representatives of the UN, International Committee of the Red Cross, all de-mining teams and a few other relief organizations.
During the meeting Major General Udawatte assured all assistance and facilities to those organizations which were carrying out praiseworthy roles for the benefit of newly resettled civilians and other residents of different areas.
Those representatives separately produced a catalogue of varying roles and programmes being implemented by respective organizations working in specific areas. They also tabled details regarding their future projects aimed at further promoting living standards of the civilians in the areas, the army said.
