Dehiwela School Principal accused of 2 million fraud

Chief Magistrate of Mt. Lavinia, Nirosha Fernando ordered the Controller of Immigration and Emigration preventing the former Principal of Dehiwala S.D.S. Jayasinghe Vidyalaya who is in custody in connection with a fraud involving Rs. 2 million, from leaving the country.

The Magistrate issued the prohibition order based on a request made by the Presidential Investigations Unit. It was alleged that the Principal had misappropriated funds raised by maintaining a car park for his personal use.

It was said that the investigations were conducted based on a complaint received by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The investigations had proved that the Principal had fraudulently used Rs. 2 million generated by Public Property, for his personal use.

The Principal was under interdiction and the fraud had taken place during three years. According to the findings of the Presidential Investigation Unit, the suspect had misappropriated   the revenue of the Car park during his time.

The order had been issued  as a precautionary measure to prevent the School Principal from leaving the country.
