CPC ordered release of low quality petrol – Chairman, Kolonnawa Terminal says

DailyMirror.lk:

Major General M R W de Soysa, the chairman of the Kolonnawa Lanka Petrol Wholesale Storage Terminal Company, said that the distribution of 17,000 metric tons out of the stock of 20,000 metric tons of the imported substandard petrol, was made on the specific orders of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) .

The chairman also said that he would inform the special committee set up to inquire into this matter. About 3000 tons of this substandard petrol is now lying at the Kolonnawa terminal and research is being made to purify it and introduce it to the market.

He said that prior to the unloading of this stock of petrol from the Colombo Harbour, a sample of the petrol had been taken — and primary tests made at the main laboratories at the Kolonnawa terminal had proved that the consignment was substandard.
