After meeting Bribery Commission Chief Jagath Balapatabendi, MP Dayasiri Jayasekera quoted the official as having told the UNP delegation that he, too, was a victim of ‘bad’ petrol. The UNPer said that they received an assurance from Balapatabendi their complaint would be investigated. Responding to a query by The Island, the MP said that repairs to Balapatabendi’s vehicle had cost Rs. 75,000. The Reformist also quoted the Bribery Chief as having said that the institution received about 30 complaints daily. He vowed to press ahead with their campaign in spite of the ongoing crisis over party leadership. (SF)
