Nearly 500 (494 to be exact) public officials and community leaders from Mawathagama and Polpithigama divisions of the Kurunegala district underwent training on anti-corruption and good governance at 14 workshops recently conducted by TISL’s Capacity Building Unit.
Among the public officials who attended the workshops were the staff of Divisional Secretariats, Agricultural Officers, Field Officers, Grama Niladharis and Samurdhi Niladharis. Members of Mediation Boards and representatives of Community Based Organisations (CBOs) also underwent training.
Five members from each category voluntarily came forward to follow the secondary training for the purpose of spreading the message on anti-corruption and good governance among the other public officials and civil society in the Kurunegala district. After the secondary training a team of active public officials and CBO representatives will be selected to be trained as trainers.
The Secondary Training Programmes is scheduled from 24-26 September at the Wariyapola Training Centre as a residential workshop.
