TISL conducted a base line survey in Bope Poddala Pradesheeya Sabha (PS) area in Galle district under the project of ‘Enhancing Demand for Accountability in Local Governance’ on 14th and 15th October 2013.
The objective of the survey was to find out the level of quality and the satisfaction among the public regarding service delivery and people’s participation in decision-making.
The TISL survey team met with the members of the Pradesheeya Sabha, officials, professionals, media persons and general public to collect evidence.
From 2010 TISL has been working with Ambalagoda UC, Ambalangoda PS and Yakkalamulla PS in Galle district to improve their accountability, governance and service delivery. Bope Poddala PS has now been added to the project.
The project is intended to improve the democratic and good governance principles into the activities of the local government and improve the people’s participation in the decision-making process.
The project is funded by National Endowment for Democracy.
