TISL commends decision to sign United Nations Convention Against Corruption

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) together with the international community, civil society and public of Sri Lanka commends the decision taken by the government of Sri Lanka to sign the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

Thus far it has been ratified by 107 other countries and is a great step forward for Sri Lanka, as it shows that the government is committed towards stemming corruption within the country.

As a result under UNCAC, the government will be bound to comply with the international community and the present standards which have been put in place for the elimination of corruption. TISL is now confident that Sri Lanka will soon comply with the regional OECD/ADB initiative, which is the leading Asia-Pacific regional action plan to fight corruption.
