The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry has had discussions with the UNDP to re-organize the public administration system of the Northern Province as they did for the Eastern Province. “It is necessary to have a better provincial administration system with the resettlement of the IDPs. The Government has planned to complete the resettlement of IDPs before the end of this year.
“We hope to get financial support from foreign countries for this project, ” said Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Sarath Amunugama at a press conference held yesterday at the Ministry.
He said, “there should be a stable procedure in the public administration system of the country. As a result of not having strict rules in our administration system we can’t do our work properly. For example when we consider about transfers it is better to do all transfers only at the end of the year if there is no special reason like health or punishment transfers.”
“We can now see good progress in the public administration system. More than 70 percent of science degree holders join with the public administration department now. We hope to hold examinations annually for degree holders below the age of 28 years and provide job opportunities for those who get high marks.
“As we have job competition in the country it is our duty to fill all vacancies in the public administration field,” said the Minister.
