Explaining Investigative Journalism

Twenty seven provincial journalists in Badulla district participated at a TISL workshop on ‘investigative journalism” held on 16 & 17 October 2008 at River Side Holiday Inn, Badulla. Accent was on understanding their role in reporting issues of corruption in society.

After explaining what corruption is, the resource persons handled the issues relating to corruption in the Sri Lankan context, and dealt with the subject of investigative journalism. The qualities of an investigative journalist and the tools and resources available to him were the highlighted.

Participants expressed their satisfaction on the course both in terms of outcome course and the way it was conducted.

Investigative Journalist Poddala Jayantha and TISL Programe Managers Duleeka Vidanapathirana & Ananda Jayasekara were the recourse persons.
