Program Assistant

Background:

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) is a National Chapter of Transparency International (TI), the leading global movement against corruption. TISL raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

 

SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

The Program Assistant is responsible to support day-to-day programme management, advocacy and the delivery of the annual work plan. This post has the responsibility of supporting the Programme Officer and the Senior Manager, Advocacy & Programme in ensuring that MEAL targets are met in line with the project goals, in the best interest of the target stakeholders, through proactive engagement with key stakeholders.

In the event of unexpected and critical interventions of the organization, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

 

responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing the annual work plan and the detailed implementation plan.
  • Responsible for supporting the day-to-day planning and implementation of specific programme and advocacy along with associated administrative duties.
  • Support the management for monitoring, evaluation and learning processes including drafting and maintenance of MEAL records to ensure program results, impact and learning are captured effectively.
  • Support the development of systems and processes for the implementation of the MEAL strategy.
  • Contributing to project design and proposal development in relation to the MEL methodology.
  • Support to build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist the development and publishing of information, communication & advocacy material.
  • Support in developing and implementing advocacy and communications campaigns.
  • Liaise with other technical and operational teams to obtain support and guidance to organize programmes, events, and advocacy activities acccording to the TISL strategy and implementation plan.
  • Contribute to the drafting of reports, write ups, training and other program materials.
  • Conduct data entry and maintain TISL databases.
  • Support program development and fundraising initiatives of the organization.
  • Study and be up‐to‐date on anti-corruption and good governance and new developments.

 

Resource Management

  • Maintain systematic and up-to-date record keeping, adhering to security protocols.
  • Effective utilization of organizational resources.
  • Engage in other organizational activities.

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • A graduate in International Relations, Law, Development Studies, or related discipline.
  • At least One year experience in either the public, private or civil society sector.
  • Working knowledge or experience in MEAL is required. Experience in setting up and managing MEAL systems, in the non-governmental organizations sector will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency (speaking, reading and writing) in English with either Sinhala or Tamil.
  • Experience in conducting research is required.
  • Experience in project implementation
  • Sound understanding of the governance discourse in Sri Lanka.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent skills in MS office
