Shroff remanded till September 23

KANDY: The shroff of the Kandy General Hospital was taken into custody by the Kandy Division Special Crime Investigation Bureau in connection with an alleged misappropriation of hospital funds and remanded till September 23, by the Kandy Chief Magistrate Sumudu Premachandra.

The alleged misappropriation of funds meant for salaries of hospital employees amounted to over Rs. 240,000, according to police.

The shroff was under interdiction after the revelation of the missing funds by the audits and subsequent to police investigation he was taken into custody by the SCIB, Kandy.

Further investigations are conducted by CI Nipuna Dehigama OIC Special Crime Investigation Bureau under the directions of Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne, DIG Central Pujith Jayasundara and HQI CI Anuruddha Bandaranayake.
