About TISL – Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) is a National Chapter of Transparency International (TI), the leading global movement against corruption. TISL raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it. TISL also works on a spectrum of governance matters, ranging from implementing Open Government initiatives to being an election monitor.
TISL is seeking suitable candidate to join as Finance Officer. This position will be based in Colombo.
Scope of work:
• Processing Journal vouchers, entering daily expenses & cashbook entries to the accounting system.
• Preparing for payments by raising vouchers, drawing cheques and dispatching payments.
• Maintaining an orderly filing system of all accounting related documents for relevant transactions under the supervision and guidance of the supervisor.
• Maintenance of Petty Cash float.
• Maintenance of Bank accounts and entering of all receipts & payments to the system.
• Preparing the monthly reconciliation of the control accounts.
• Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements.
• Maintaining Fixed Asset Register and conducting year end asset verification.
• Assisting the Finance Manager in preparing the budget for the organization and Donor funded projects.
• Preparing donor reports, monthly financial reports/cash flows to be presented to the Supervisor.
• Facilitating the year-end audit and project audits on a timely basis.
• Maintaining the staff payroll.
The ideal candidate should be:
• Part qualifications from a recognized accounting body or degree in accountancy.
• At least 2 years of experience in the field of accounting and auditing.
• Experience in QuickBooks or similar accounting package or ERP system
• Knowledge of MS Excel is essential.
• Knowledge of Quick Books accounting system is essential.
• Fluent in English and Sinhala or Tamil.
• Ability and willingness to travel to the field.
• Experience in audit will be an advantage
