Nicole Elias
Program Manager - Private Sector

Nicole initially joined TISL in 2016 as an intern and re-joined TISL in 2017 as a Project Assistant for the Open Government Partnership Project. In 2019, she was promoted as Programme Officer, Accountable Governance. Her main tasks are leading the knowledge generation of Business Integrity concepts, the implementation and reporting of a USAID funded project focusing on strengthening Civil Society to advocate for comprehensive anti-corruption mechanisms, contributing towards the design and implementation of outreach and awareness campaigns and organizing advocacy and training programmes on the Victims and Witness Protection Law, draft Proceeds of Crime legislation and TISL’s PEP Database. She also led the research team on compiling TISL’s first Transparency in Corporate Reporting Assessment (TRAC) which was published in 2020.

Before joining TISL, Nicole worked as a Research Assistant in the Foreign Minister’s Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where she assisted the Press Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time, Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, M.P. In her previous role at TISL as Project Assistant for the Open Government Partnership (OGP) project, she handled the overall implementation of all OGP activities and was actively involved in the drafting of both Sri Lanka’s first and second OGP National Action Plans.

Nicole read for a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations (Hons.) and also holds a Diploma in Social Sciences, both from the University of London. She is a past pupil of Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya.

Her personal areas of interest include speaking up for gender equality and human rights and assessing levels of corruption in the private sector. Nicole is an ardent lover of the performing arts and is a Singer, Guitarist, Thespian and Dancer. She also loves to read and travel the world to explore different cultures.
