Jezla joined TISL in 2019 as an intern and was promoted to Research Assistant for the Research and Policy team. Her main tasks include organising advocacy and training programmes with regard to the Victims and Witness Protection Law and draft Proceeds of Crime legislation, maintaining the PEP Database and Online Pledge Tracker, the Business Integrity Report and any general research work required.
Jezla has completed internships with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the State Ministers Bureau and with the John Keells Foundation engaging in various CSR projects.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Development and a Certificate of Higher Education in Social Sciences both from the University of London. She is currently reading for her Graduate LLB. Jezla is a past pupil of Ladies College, Colombo through which she had an avid background as a debater which has aided her pursuit in the professional field and contributed to her growing interest in being a Women’s Rights Activist and Advocate which is her ultimate aim. Apart from this, she is up for anything new and adventurous with a particular partiality towards exploring new places and cultures, swimming, reading and as of recent, gaming.
