Janithrika joined TISL in 2018 as Programme Assistant of the Advocacy and Legal Advice Center (ALAC), supporting the outreach programs conducted by ALAC and building partnerships with both Civil Society Organizations and State Authorities while handling the ALAC Database. Later, she worked attached to the Protection of Public Property and Resources Team as a Program Officer. In 2020, Janithrika was the National Coordinator of Integrity Icon Program ([http://www.integrityicon.lk)%C2%A0program-/]http://www.integrityicon.lk) a global campaign by Accountability Lab (www.accountabilitylab.org) in search of honest government officials, where she gained experience in working with numerous stakeholders: local level public officials, heads of the public sector, media, and Civil Society Organizations at both national and global level. In 2021, Janithrika was promoted as the Manager- Advocacy and Research.
Janithrika has several years of experience working on Community Development Projects in the Social Service Sector. She has been volunteering for the “International Movement for Community Development” since 2015 working on various projects, holding the position of Programme Manager of the “Colour A Dream” programme which worked towards providing quality and equal educational opportunities for every child in Sri Lanka.
Janithrika holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colombo majoring in English and Literature, minoring in International Relations, and was honoured with the Dean’s Award for the best performance in Literary Criticism and Poetry for two consecutive years at the University Level. She is a past pupil of Goethe Institute, Colombo.
Janithrika is passionate about the fields of Peace-building, Anti-Corruption and Good Governance. Her personal areas of interest include Literature, Arts based strategies in transforming societies and Poetry. She pens down her thoughts and publishes on ‘The Voiced’ at thevoicedproject.wordpress.com.
