Janithrika joined TISL in 2018 as Programme Assistant of the Advocacy and Legal Advice Center (ALAC). Her tasks include handling the ALAC database, coordinating with regional offices, supporting the outreach programs conducted by ALAC and building partnerships with both Civil Society Organizations and State Authorities.
Janithrika has several years of experience working on Community Development Projects in the Social Service Sector. She has been volunteering for the International Movement for Community Development since 2015 working on various projects and currently holds the position of Programme Manager of the “Colour A Dream” programme which works towards providing quality and equal educational opportunities for every child in Sri Lanka.
Janithrika holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colombo majoring in English and Literature, minoring in International Relations. She is a past pupil of St. Joseph’s Girls College, Kegalle, and studies German at the Goethe Institute, Colombo. Janithrika was honoured with the Dean’s Award for the best performance in Literary Criticism and Poetry for two consecutive years at the University Level.
Janithrika is passionate about the fields of Peace-building and Conflict Resolution, Anti-Corruption and Good Governance. Her personal areas of interest include Literature and Research on Art based Peace-Building and Poetry.
