Police urge candidates at the forthcoming general election to refrain from defacing walls and every available public space with posters with party propaganda but to opt for hand bills and pamphlets.
DIG Elections Gamini Navaratne said though it would cost candidates around Rs 3-4 million each to print posters police would have to spend at least Rs 2.2 million to remove them.
The Police will remove all election posters from 26 March, he said.
