Chathushika Wijeyesinghe
Senior Program Officer - Political Sector

Chathushika joined TISL in 2019 as Programme Officer for the Open Government Partnership (OGP) project and since 2020 has been working as Programme Officer, Public Sector Procurement. She currently oversees work related to public sector procurement in strengthening and promoting transparency and accountability within the procurement practices of the public sector. She also continues her work on the Open Government Partnership while in her current role in being the contact point between the government and civil society organisations working on the OGP.

Chathushika previously worked as a Journalist for the Daily Mirror Newspaper from 2013-2015. Following that, she worked as a Project Officer for a World Bank funded project on Early Childhood Development from 2015-2018 and as a Programme Coordinator at the Sri Lanka Press Institute for a USAID funded project on Right to Information (RTI).

In 2007, Chathushika was chosen as one of four students to represent Sri Lanka at the Model United Nations General Assembly held in Liverpool, UK. She participated in a Student exchange program with No. 80 Beijing High School, China in 2008. In 2009, she represented Sri Lanka at a Leo youth camp ‘JERIL’ in Rouen, France. She also worked as a Leo for District 306 C2, Chairing and coordinating many projects. She is a Toastmaster and was the youngest President of the first Toastmasters Club in South Asia, The Colombo Toastmasters Club from 2017-2018. She is also a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Pan Colombo.

Chathushika holds a LLB from the University of London (2012), a Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs from BIDTI (2019), a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations and World Affairs from BCIS (2014), a Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs from BIDTI (2012), a Diploma in International Relations from BCIS (2010), and a Diploma in Law from the University of London (2009). She is a past pupil of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo 07 where she appointed as Deputy Head Prefect in 2007.

In her spare time, Chathushika is an amateur Photographer and Guitar player. She is also an ardent lover of books & poetry, loves to blog, is a bathroom singer and wishes to believe the world is a radio station and all the people in it, are announcers.
