Youth Trainers trained on Good Governance.

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) conducted a well- designed two day Train the Trainer (ToT) programme to groom more than 30 youth leaders on basic methods of good governance, and anti – corruption initiatives. The workshop supported by TISL’s Youth Integrity Project (YIP) was held in Maharagama Youth Service Centre.

The programme was conducted with the collaboration of Sri Lanka Youth association (SLY).  Prior to the training developed a curriculum was developed by TISL and SLY to train the trainers. Dr. Saman Weerawanse, Milinda Rajapakshe and Rashitha Dahalepola of the National Youth Council worked with TISL staff to develop this curriculum.

Through the trained pool of trainers, TISL will conduct training programmes for youth and other stakeholder groups in their respective localities. On request, these trainers will be available for training programmes conducted by TISL.

Dr. Saman Weerawanse and Ananda Jayasekara, manager Local Governance of TISL  conducted the sessions.

Among the participants were youth leaders from National Youth Council, undergraduates from the Law Faculty and the University of Kelaniya.  Other than the training on good governance and anti corruption initiatives youths were trained on leadership skills too. The participants agreed that the programme enhanced their training skills.

At the beginning of the training workshop Shan Wijethunge, Senior Manager of TISL welcomed the participants. T.Kalaimaga,l Senior Manager of TISL, Nauli Wimalarathna, Manager YIP and Raveendra de Silva,  ALAC Northern coordinator also represented the TISL at the workshop.
