One day workshop was conducted for the leaders of the Community Based Organaisations (CBO) in Bope Poddala Galle District to increase the transparency and accountability in local government administration recently. The workshop was conducted at the divisional secretariat of the Bope Poddala.
The participants capacity was built on powers of local government authorities, budget preparation and monitoring, establishment of the committees in local government authorities and public right to represent the committees. After the initial training participants prepared a action list and a proposal to participate in local governance.
Among the participants there were retired principals and teachers, retired government officials, media representatives, artist and representatives of women organaisations. G.C.S.Madugoda Chairman of the Bope Poddala Pradeshiya Saba and members of the Pradeshiya Saba along with the officials too participated in this workshop.
Lawyer Jagath Liyanarachchi manager ALAC project TISL, NED project Manager Ananda Jayasekara and coordinator Thilina Pathirana were the resource persons at the workshop.
