A Civil Society Report on Sri Lanka’s Sustainable Development Goal 16

At the High Level Political Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals in New York this week, Transparency International Sri Lanka unveiled its shadow report on Sri Lanka’s progress in achieving Goal 16 titled Policy, SDGs and Fighting Corruption for the People.

The report identifies several shortcomings in monitoring progress on anti-corruption measures and makes several recommendations including the development of indicators to measure progress against corruption, introducing campaign finance regulations with a disclosure framework and expenditure limitations, the adoption of the Proceeds of Crime Act and ensuring that public authorities comply with the proactive disclosure mechanisms outlined in the Right to Information Act.
