Trade Union Leaders Strive for Efficient Public Service Commission

On an invitation made by Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) State sector leading Trade Union leaders participated in a two day workshop at Kaluthara to identify gaps and weaknesses of Public Service Commission (PSC) in order to improve the quality its services rendered to the hundreds of public officials in the state sector.

This was the first time that more than 30 Trade Union leaders gathered in one place to discuss on PSC and it activities. At this workshop TISL shared its findings of study done on PSC. Before those public officials who served the country with distinction including former Auditor General S.C. Mayadunne, former secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration D.Dissanayake and former secretary to the Ministry of Post & Telecommunication Piyatissa Ranasinghe conducted sessions on PSC.

On the second day after the sessions were over leaders of the trade unions expressed their concerns on PSC and came up with several recommendations to improve the efficiency of the Commission.
