Three-day workshop on Investigative Journalism

Twenty one journalists, both from the provinces and national media, attended a three-day residential workshop on Investigative Journalism organized by TISL at Hotel Global Towers, Colombo-6 recently. The selected provincial journalists from Kurunegala, Puttalam, Badulla and Monaragala had earlier participated at two TISL workshops.
The lead trainer, investigative journalist Poddala Jayantha was assisted by C.Dodawatta, Editor, Research and Training – Lake House.
In addition to the lectures, the journalists were put through a practical training session when they were given group exercises and had to work in the field and present their findings.
Participants were most appreciative of the training and were unanimous in saying that the knowledge gained through field work would be most helpful in developing their careers.
The training was supported by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).
