Sri Lanka’s Bribery Commission charged of sailing to investigate some complaints

An anti-corruption movement in Sri Lanka, Voice Against Corruption (VAC) has said the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption has failed to investigate some complaints lodged with it.

VAC Convener, Wasantha Samarasinghe said the Commission has failed to investigate complaints made by the public to the commission.

Noting that public taxes pay for the salaries of the Bribery Commission, but the public has not been served as expected, the anti-corruption activist threatened to gather public support and surround the Commission in Colombo to voice the protests of the public against its failures.

“We will gather public support and surround the Bribery and Corruption Commission in Colombo and protest,” Samarasinghe has said.

According to him, complaints lodged with the Commission that are yet to be investigated include one over an EPF fraud incident, a financial company deal and complaints against the incumbent Chief Justice.
