Motor Traffic Dept. clerk remanded

A clerk of the Motor Traffic Department was remanded by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya for allegedly printing forged driving licence cards and keeping them in his possession.

The suspect had been questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on a detention order for nearly three days to ascertain whether he had produced forged documents to the LTTE or not.

According to investigations, the CID has revealed that the suspect W.A.A. Don Dharmadasa of Polgasowita, a clerk of the Motor Traffic Department had been involved in printing forged driving licence cards and other documents, but investigations have not shown that he had produced forged documents to the LTTE.

The CID had recovered forged driving licence cards and several copies of photographs in his possession and investigations are being conducted under the instructions of IP Harry Udugama.

During the previous inquiry, another two suspects were remanded by the Magistrate till November 18 involved in  the same case.
