Michael joined TISL in 2019 as Programme Manager of the Right to Information (RTI) team. He oversees all RTI-related programming, including all awareness-raising and civic mobilisation work on RTI as well as RTIs filed by TISL in the public interest.
Beyond his current role, Michael is a researcher in the field of law and policy and has a few published works to his name. He has worked with the Centre for Policy Alternatives, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, the Association for Progressive Communications, and the ICRC.
When he’s not working, Michael is a writer. In 2013, he won the Commonwealth Short Story Prize for the Asia region for his one-hit wonder, ‘The Sarong-Man in the Old House, and an Incubus for a Rainy Night,’ which he wouldn’t mind you reading, as long as you don’t bring it up with him in conversation.
