Korean exam Cheats-CID takes over investigations

DailyMirror:

The names of individuals who tried to make use of mobile phones at an exam held by the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB) and their mobile phone numbers have been given over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Chairman of the SLFEB Kingsley Ranawaka said that  64 candidates that were arrested and that while nearly 20,000 mobile phones were to be taken into the ten examination centres the attempt was foiled with the intervention of the police. “A gang had taken between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 50,000 from candidates promising them that they would be supplied with the correct answers for the paper”, he said. “They had given these candidates special sim cards for the purpose. With the assistance of the CID, we hope to arrest the gang behind it”, Mr. Ranawaka said.

Candidates who sat for the Korean Language Fluency Exam this year were suspended after being caught cheating.
