A better service assured after TISL training

Grama Niladari officers in two divisions recently assured to deliver their services in a more accountable manner and keep the public well informed of these services. The assurance was given by these officers from Ambalangoda and Wariyapola when Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) conducted two separate training programmes on a more accountable public service.

The training programmes, held in partnership with the Divisional Secretariats, were conducted to sensitize grama niladari officers to provide their service in a more accountable manner and convince them to act with integrity. They were briefed on corruption and its effects and were trained on their duties and good governance.

Appreciating the value of the training programmes they said that they realised the importance of good governance at the lower level of administration in Sri Lanka. They will hereafter display all information to the public relating to their duties and services. They will individually meet with the households to collect and share information.

TISL’s managers D.M. Dissanayake, Jagath Liyanarachchi and Dishan Weerasinghe conducted the sessions.
